Boma is Swahili for enclosed homestead; many different Bomas represent Kenya’s major ethnic groups and refers to the open minded approach of this culturally rich and exciting production. Corneliu Ganea examines the origin of Kenian dance, how Kenian dancers react to our academic way of modern dance and what our western dancers could integrate in their performances. Dorothée Munyaneza toont de moed om 20 jaar na de gruwelijke genocide in Rwanda terug te kijken en erover te vertellen in muziek, dans, woord en gebaar.
Zij was 12 toen in haar land 800.000 mensen werden gedood. Een gebeurtenis die haar nooit meer losliet. Ze vluchtte naar Groot-Brittannië en vestigde zich later in Marseille als performer, zangeres en danseres. Haar eerste voorstelling Samedi Détente is een eerbetoon aan de genocideslachtoffers maar ook aan de muzikale, vrolijke cultuur uit haar jeugd. De titel is gelijk aan die van het radioprogramma vol internationale muziek waarop ze als kind met haar vriendjes danste.
