Let yourself be enchanted by the beautiful and unique exhibition about (de)colonization and its consequences. A Dutch premiere by the Belgian-Congolese artist David Katshiunga. Authenticité drew its inspiration from the book "Dochter van de Decolonisatie / Daughter of Decolonization" by the renowned political scientist Nadia Nsayi. This compelling work takes readers on a profound exploration of the historical relationship between Belgium and the Congo, delving into the lasting repercussions of colonialism. It offers a distinctive perspective that allows us to scrutinize the legacy of colonization and the complex journey of decolonization. Immerse yourself in the captivating world of David Katshiunga's mesmerizing black and white paintings. These artistic masterpieces facilitate a captivating dialogue that transcends time, seamlessly connecting the past with the present. We're delighted to announce that nine (9) remarkable artworks will be on display, with one being unveiled during a special discussion. De Black Achievement Month wordt jaarlijks in de maand oktober gehouden. Het festival heeft als doel de uitzonderlijke talenten van mensen met Afrikaanse roots in de schijnwerpers te zetten. Met dit jaar onder meer veel programma-onderdelen in diverse Nederlandse steden: Amsterdam, Amstelveen, Almere, Den Haag, Utrecht, Rotterdam, Nijmegen en Middelburg

De Nigerese Toeareg singer-songwriter en gitarist Bombino komt onze kant op. In het najaar staan er verschillende concerten op de planning. De muziek van Bombino wordt gezongen in Tamasheq en gaat vaak in op geopolitieke problemen van de Toearegs. Hij komt met name op voor ‘zijn’ Tuareg bevolking, de diverse nomadische stammen verspreid over meerdere Noord-Afrikaanse landen, ook wel aangeduid als de Sahel-regio. Zijn nieuwe album “Sahel” werd opgenomen in Casablanca met producer David Wrench (bekend van zijn werk met o.a. David Byrne, Frank Ocean, The XX, Goldfrapp, Sampha en Caribou).

'An explosive performance with hope, healing and redemption through Pantsula dance'. In a combination of heartfelt play, a mix between traditional South-African street dance (pantsula) and ‘bone breaking’, Afro house, Amapiano beats, humor and impressive visuals, the Soweto Skeleton Movers from South-Africa will tell their personal stories that put their Unbreakable spirit to the test. Despite many setbacks and bad temptations that cross their path, these dancers are “unbreakable”. What is pantsula? Pantsula is an energetic dance that originated in the South African “townships” in the 1950s and represents a specific way of life and clothing style. Pantsula was used as an expression of resistance during the apartheid era. Unbreakable is a collaboration between Rotterdam choreographer Lloyd Marengo, London theater director Jonzi D and the five explosively energetic dancers of Soweto Skeleton Movers.
