Every year at Pentecost, Afro-Pfingsten in Winterthur touches the hearts of ten thousands of visitors, inviting everyone to the biggest Africa & World music Festival in Switzerland.
19th NY African Film Festival
The 2012 New York African Film Festival, presented under the banner 21st Century: The Homecoming is a two-month multi-venue event in New York City exploring notions of home and homeland through films and their protagonists. A select group of features, shorts and documentaries, as well as experimental films and archival footage, will be presented alongside supplementary programs aimed at a broader exploration of the festival’s themes, including panel discussions, visual and performing art exhibitions, professional development workshops for artists, and in-school presentations.
St. Louis African Arts Festival
The mission of the St. Louis African Arts Festival is to provide the community at large access to the richness of the African culture and its impact on western culture. We achieve our mission by creating an African village atmosphere that engenders fellowship among attendees and exposes them to African culture through educational and entertaining activities. These activities include: African art, dance, jewelry making, drumming, authentic hair braiding, mask-making, and an African marketplace.
The Royal Show
The 161st Royal Show, South Africa’s oldest and largest mixed exhibition, will feature events and exhibits including musical events, craft displays and home improvement and agriculture displays.
Studenten UvA zamelen geld in voor Zuid-Afrikaanse fotografe
Economiestudent Egor Gorshkov is met vier andere UvA-studenten een crowdfundingactie begonnen om voor 1 juli tienduizend dollar bij elkaar te krijgen voor de zeventienjarige Zuid-Afrikaanse activiste en fotografe Rudzani Matshili. Zij fotografeert de ellende in townships, maar heeft geld nodig voor een professionele camera, een laptop en een universitaire opleiding.
