Samen met Stichting AfriGro organiseert de afdeling Het Noorden van de NZAV het (kleinschalige) AfriGro festival. Muziek, taal, eten/drinken en marktkraampjes samen op 1 gezellige dag. Afsluitend organiseren wij een echte Zuid-Afrikaanse braai.

Africa Utopia explores where the continent can lead the world, including the role of music and theatre, sustainable technologies and the spirit of innovation and hope of the continent’s young people. Senegalese singer and human rights champion Baaba Maal leads a council of elders of international musicians, artists, writers and activists in a three-week cultural summit, to show what Africa has to offer the world.

Tijdens dit festival wordt de slavernij herdacht en de afschaffing ervan gevierd met een feestelijk programma vol activiteiten en live-muziek. Keti Koti, een Surinaams begrip, betekent ‘verbroken ketenen’. Het symboliseert de afschaffing van de slavernij op 1 juli 1863 in de toenmalige koloniën Suriname en de Nederlandse Antillen.
