African Drum Village festival in Scotland
Line-up: see link underneath. With drumming teachers offering classes for total beginners right up to those looking for advanced techniques. There will also be new classes in solo drumming plus instrument tuition including m'bira, balafon and kora, and traditional song and dance from various parts of Africa. In the evening there will be performances. Other events include drum circles, storytelling, and arts and crafts activities.

Featuring workshops from world renowned artists from West Africa and the Caribbean, a symposium, a concert extravaganza, vendor market place, children’s village, a raffle drawing, an award presentation and a cultural reception.

South Africa central at Edinburgh Fringe Festival
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the largest arts festival in the world and takes place every August for three weeks in Scotland’s capital city. The festival caters for everyone and includes theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, musicals, operas, music, exhibitions and events. The Assembly programme has an eight-show strong programme of work from South Africa including the Market Theatre's And the Girls in Their Sunday Dresses and Woza Albert!, Baxter Theatre's Miss Julie and Wordsmith's The Sewing Machine.
Diverse zomeractiviteiten in Afrika Museum
Tijdens het zomerprogramma kunnen bezoekers dagelijks deelnemen aan (theatrale) rondleidingen en workshops. Aansluitend bij de tentoonstelling ‘Goddelijk en Griezelig – Het Geheim van de Slang’ vinden onder meer de theatrale tour ‘Bang voor de slang’, de voorstelling ‘De Grote Wijze van het woud’ en de creatieve workshop ‘de Regenboogslang’ plaats. In de workshop ‘Afrikaanse muziek’ maken de deelnemers kennis met Afrikaanse ritmes en instrumenten. Verhalenverteller Sjoerd neemt kinderen mee op een tocht door het Buitenmuseum in theatrale tour ‘Kofi kan niet zweten’. Let op! Niet elke activiteit vindt dagelijks plaats.
