This legendary band was formed in the late 1960's by guitarist Mamady "Djelike" Kouyate and singer Emile Soumah. They made some of the most beloved music of their generation. Now based in New York, Mamady Kouyate has decided to revive The Ambassadors. Every Wednesday night.
Edson Chagas, Angola in Ocean of Images: New Photography 2015
New Photography, MoMA’s longstanding exhibition series of recent work in photography, returns this fall in an expanded, biannual format. On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, New Photography is expanding to 19 artists and artist collectives from 14 countries, and includes works made specifically for this exhibition. Coinciding with the opening of the exhibition, MoMA will also launch an online platform featuring selections from the archive of the New Photography series, including documents and images from the series' 30-year history. The artists included are: Edson Chagas (Angolan, b. 1977)
New exhibition 'Vive la paix': Paintings by Ibrahim 'Lodia' Diallo (Senegal)
Ibrahim 'Lodia' Diallo (Dakar, 1974) is a versatile Senegalese artist who, since 2013, has lived and worked in The Hague, the Netherlands. His original work ranges from traditional to timeless and his style is expressive, colourful and cheerful. Lodia’s West African art is conspicuous for its inspiration, flair, swinging characters and heartfelt messages.
Wild (Born as Easy) - theatervoorstelling over in Afrika geboren jongen
Toen de jongen genaamd ‘Wild’ ergens in Afrika ter wereld kwam noemde iedereen hem nog ‘Easy’. In deze performance gaan we mee op zijn reis. Onderweg zien we de moeite die het kost om Europa te bereiken en om in Rotterdam je plek in de samenleving te vinden. Zijn bagage wordt zo groot en zwaar dat Wild het zelf niet meer kan dragen. Na de voorstelling gaan we de interactieve dialoog aan over de situatie van Wild. Hoe kunnen we ervoor zorgen dat zijn bagage dragelijk blijft? Wie speelt daar welke rol in? De performance Wild (born as Easy) wordt gespeeld tijdens het Theatre of the Oppressed Festival dat plaatsvindt in Rotterdam van 13 tot 18 december 2015. Tijdens dit festival zijn er diverse workshops en interactieve optredens met groepen uit India, Mozambique, Nederland, Israël en Palestina.
