Kel Assouf heeft twee basisprincipes: de promotie van de Toeareg-cultuur en het openstaan voor ontmoetingen. Het warme Toeareg-repertoire wordt aangevuld met de veelzijdige inbreng van de zeven bandleden, voornamelijk afkomstig uit het Afrikaanse continent. De multiculturele grootstad Brussel laat zijn sporen na. Zo vinden vleugjes reggae, afrobeat en salsa hun weg in de desert blues.
