Dit jaar met Habib Koité (Mali), Teta (Madagaskar), Aziz Sahmaoui & University of Gnawa (Marokko/Senegal) en Mamar Kassey (Niger), Les Ambassadeurs met Salif Keita (Mali), Fendika & Circus Debre Berhan (Ethiopië), Nancy Vieira (Kaapverdië)  en The Ghana Bigshots (een Europese festival-première). En voor het eerst in Nederland: BKO Quintet uit Mali, Black Bazar uit Congo en Debademba uit Burkina Faso/Mali.

Het Amsterdam Roots Festival, 17e editie, wordt gehouden van donderdag 3 tot en met zondag 6 juli 2013. Met het Roots Open Air voor het eerst op de Kop van het Java-eiland op 6 juli 2014. Youssou N'Dour sluit het festival daar af. Meer informatie op de site van het festival.
