Edson Chagas, Angola in Ocean of Images: New Photography 2015
New Photography, MoMA’s longstanding exhibition series of recent work in photography, returns this fall in an expanded, biannual format. On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, New Photography is expanding to 19 artists and artist collectives from 14 countries, and includes works made specifically for this exhibition. Coinciding with the opening of the exhibition, MoMA will also launch an online platform featuring selections from the archive of the New Photography series, including documents and images from the series' 30-year history. The artists included are: Edson Chagas (Angolan, b. 1977)

Ibrahim 'Lodia' Diallo (Dakar, 1974) is a versatile Senegalese artist who, since 2013, has lived and worked in The Hague, the Netherlands. His original work ranges from traditional to timeless and his style is expressive, colourful and cheerful. Lodia’s West African art is conspicuous for its inspiration, flair, swinging characters and heartfelt messages.
The Good Ones - Frisse en hoopvolle muziek uit Rwanda

The Good Ones noemen zich zo omdat zij beweren de beste muzikanten uit het land te zijn. Slechts met gitaar, percussie en prachtige harmonische meerstemmige zang brengt het kwartet toegankelijke en poppy liederen die direct onder je huid kruipen. Daarin verwerken ze hun gemeenschappelijke ervaringen waarin, of men nou wilt of niet, de volkerenmoord doorklinkt. Of zoals Javon Mahoro, een van de muzikanten, zegt: “Zingen is een van de mooiste dingen in het leven. Als men samen zingt wordt de kracht van de muziek nog groter. Muziek kan geen kogels stoppen, maar ze kan wel helen”.
