The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the largest arts festival in the world and takes place every August for three weeks in Scotland’s capital city. The festival caters for everyone and includes theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, musicals, operas, music, exhibitions and events. In 2016 there are many productions from Africa at the festival.

The countdown has started for the Arts Alive Festival in September with theatre, music, dance and the annual Jazz on the Lake concert. The festival is back with a full programme, to showcase the diversity and quality artistic offerings for the residents of Johannesburg. The festival will feature a range of exciting overseas and local artists within literature, poetry, master class workshops, music and dance; a diverse range of music from Jazz to Afrobeat, Hip Hop, Dancehall reggae and traditional rhythms to Kwaito. Also: Music Conference & Exhibition ‘Censored: When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised’, African Women Writer’s Symposium, Indian Music, French Circus etc.

Dag van 1000 Culturen met o.a. Untold, West-Afrikaans en Afro-Caribisch danstheater

Op zaterdag 3 september is het weer zover, dan staat het Anton de Komplein in het teken van de Dag van 1000 Culturen. Deze dag is de officiële opening van het cultuur- en sportseizoen in Amsterdam Zuidoost met workshops, sport, spellen en heel veel lekker eten. En er zijn diverse performances van onder andere Black Harmony, Sabroso, Rass Motivated, Askala Selassie, Untold en TOCSICK. Deze dag wordt georganiseerd door Cultuurplatform Zuidoost: Imagine IC, CBK Zuidoost, Bijlmer Parktheater en Stadsdeel Zuidoost met medewerking van Funtrax. En niet geheel onbelangrijk: de entree is gratis! Op het Muziekprodium brengen DJ’s hedendaagse Afrikaanse tunes ten gehore.
