Sexuality education in Uganda, Teachers’ reasoning in a 'morally upright' context. PhD ceremony: B. (Billie) de Haas, MSc. Promotor: prof. dr. I. Hutter. The HIV epidemic and a high number of teenage pregnancies underscore the importance of sexuality education in Uganda. However, teachers often face difficulties in teaching sexuality education, especially when the contents conflict with cultural and religious values and beliefs. In addition, the Ugandan government has recently prohibited the provision of school-based sexuality education, with the exception of abstinence-only teachings.

Ghana Thuis - Gespreksstof met Akwasi

Ga op donderdag 14 december vanaf 17.30 uur mee in gesprek over de dingen waarmee we Ghana in huis halen. Zoals de Ghanese Fanti-kano die deel uitmaakt van de tentoonstelling ‘Ghana Thuis’. Onze host is rapper, acteur en presentator Akwasi. Amartey, Aretha-Pam Anpong en Untold Empowerment brengen elk een ode aan de kano en andere dingen uit deze expositie, en geven hieraan zo belang, betekenis en gevoelswaarde. Waar en wanneer voel je je thuis? Welke rol spelen objecten en tradities voor jou om een thuis te maken? Imagine IC en het Tropenmuseum startten hierover een reeks gesprekken met mensen in Zuidoost en heel Amsterdam voor wie het begrip thuis is verbonden met Ghana. Tussenresultaat is onze nieuwe tentoonstelling ‘Ghana Thuis’.
