This study by C.W. (Catherine) Macharia Mutie examines the potential of using amaranth grain to improve iron status among pre-school children. ... This thesis confirmes that addition of amaranth grain flour to maize porridge may not show considerable improvement in iron status unlike consumption of maize porridge fortified with a MNP. It is concluded that addition of MNP in maize porridge is more suitable than dietary diversification with grain amaranth for improving iron status among children. Promotor: prof.dr.ir. F.J.
