ISS Seminar - Sino-Sudan relations: A Sudanese Perspective
His Excellency Dr. Ali Yousif Ahmed Alsharif is the current Ambassador of Sudan to South Africa. Dr Alsharif served also as the Sudanese Ambassador to China and to the European Union in Brussels. During his post in China, he played a crucial role in establishing warm economic relations between the two countries. For this seminar, jointly organised by EPANetwork and Clingendael Institute, Dr. Alsharif will present about the historical and contemporary relationship between Sudan and China. Much debated issues such as the role of oil in Sino-Sudan relations; the role of China in the North-South conflict, the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, and Darfur and the impact of the split with South Sudan on Sino-Sudan relations will be discussed during this seminar.
