Afrofuturism: A New Dawn - a debate

How do you shape the future, when your past makes it difficult to even imagine one? On December 23rd, De Balie takes a glimpse into the future with a program on the cultural movement known as Afrofuturism. Afrofuturism is a wide-ranging term, describing the many different ways in which black artists, writers and thinkers use their work to envision a future, beyond the confines of a history of oppression. It combines elements of science fiction and fantasy culture, to design a world on its own, unique terms. The evening will be moderated by Ama van Dantzig. Language: English
